The Senior Accountant should possess an in-depth knowledge and experience of financial management. He or she must possess good communication skills and be capable of providing continuing capacity building activities to OFAG’s finance and other teams.
The Senior Accountant must demonstrate the following minimum qualifications, expertise, and experience:
Minimum BSc/BA in Accounting/ Accounting and Finance or related discipline from a recognized institution.
A minimum of 6 years of accounting experience with at least 2 – 3 years of accounting experience at a senior level and at least 1 year in an accountant function for a Donor project such as the EU, UNDP, World Bank, FCDO, USAID, and others is highly preferred.
In-depth knowledge of IFRS and cost accounting principles.
Familiarity with EU procurement procedures and practices is highly desirable.
Prior experience of working with the Government of Ethiopia is highly desirable.
Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., IFMIS, SAP, Oracle).
Proficiency with the Peachtree accounting system.
Good record keeping and reporting preparations.
Accuracy and attention to detail.
Languages:
Excellent verbal and written English and Amharic.
Other requirements:
Adequate Computer technical skills in data processing.
Expertise in Microsoft Office.
Skills and competencies:
Familiarity with relevant donors and government regulations.
Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
High level of commitment to organizational values.
Ability to work well under pressure.
Methodology
The Senior Accountant will be supervised by the Finance, Procurement, and Property Administration Directorate to coordinate the utilization of the grant budget of the project. The Senior Accountant will work on a full-time basis and be located in the office of OFAG.
Duration of the assignment
The Senior Accountant will work initially for one year, starting from November 2024, and have an opportunity for a 2-year extension based on work quality and satisfactory performance
Period: 1st November 2024 to 31st December 2026
